11 Random Things About Me
1.     I love mornings. There’s something about them that makes me so happy and I love going through my morning routine of opening my windows to the sun, working out, breakfast, and getting ready for the day. Call me crazy, but the best part of the day always comes before 8am. Probably has to do with the fact that my body won’t let me sleep in anyway!

2.     I have a huge urge to travel 24/7. Every day I dream of buying a ticket and just going somewhere, anywhere. I love spontaneous, little road trips and long, thought out big trips. Going somewhere you’ve never been is such a great adventure.

3.     I love cookie dough. I consume more of it than I do the actual cookies. Which is why I rarely bake at home! If there’s ever any around, you can count on me to have at least 5 spoonfuls.

4.     I like to help people. And would love to be doing something bigger and better than just the every day stuff I do.

5.     I may be addicted to working out. I have to start my morning with one in order to go on with my day. It keeps me in a good mood and keeps me sane during my day with tons of kids! I use it as my thinking time and it’s definitely a stress reliever!

6.     I love when the seasons change. I would say that Fall is my favorite season, and while that’s probably true, I would have to say that they are all my favorites. I love going from wearing jeans and boots to flip flops and dresses, to swimsuits, to cardigans and scarves, and back again. Every season has something so perfect about it, so they’re all my favorite, I think. J

7.     I love reading. This past year has come with a ton of awesome books (Hello Harry Potter and The Hunger Games) If anyone ever has any suggestions, send them my way! I spend a lot of my time reading books, magazines, and tons and tons of blogs. Speaking of blogs, they’re kind of my guilty pleasure. I follow way too many, and know way too much about certain people’s lives. (But I’m always up for meeting new friends)

8.     I have a slight, okay huge, problem with trying to please people. I can’t even make a decision on where to go to coffee because I’m worried that someone won’t like that choice. It’s not the kind of people pleasing where I’m worried about what people think or anything, it’s the kind where I just want everyone to be happy! I would love to say that it’s getting better, but that would be a complete lie. My family hates it. I’m working on it.

9.     I’m a planner. I like to have a plan and know what kinds of things are coming my way. I don’t get people who can’t make plans and follow through with them. Drives me nuts! Along with plans, I’m a list maker. And love crossing things off.

10.   Target. Enough said. I have a big problem (like most people) when I go into that store, I come out with tons of things I didn’t need, but love so much. And I think that’s okay. J

11.   I’m really loud. You ask anyone to use one word to describe me, and most people would use that. Sometimes they try to disguise it with “outgoing,” “boisterous,” or “friendly.” But, it’s a fact. I’m just a really loud person!

Thursday(ING)

  • Booking a random spontaneous trip. This semester sure has been full of lots of being busy. So I'm really looking forward to just getting away for a little bit. I need it big time.
  • Going to lots of workout classes. I'm basically just bored with my routines, and these new classes have been fun! (By the way...hated Yoga. I'm going to give it a few more tries still, but it's just not my kind of workout!)
  •
  • Feeling so inspired by The Ellen Show. If you know me at all, you know that I'm a big fan and love her so much! She's been helping people like crazy this season and I've been crying everyday watching her give people things that they need!
  • Getting to hang out with all my kids this weekend. Finally. I haven't seen them in a long time and I'm ready to wind them up and give them back!
  • Craving all those Spring things I always crave at this time of the year. Coffee dates, flip flops, dresses, being outside, road trips, baseball, sunny Saturday mornings, and driving with my windows down! I really love all of it. Which means summer is near. And I love summer...and fall, and winter, and spring!

20 Things I've Learned

I was going through some old blog posts that never got published tonight and found this one. I remember linking up with someone's blog for this "20 Things I've Learned," post. The instructions were to make a list of the important things you've learned in your life...from your own experiences, from things taught to you, quotes, things you've seen happen in other people's lives, etc.

Coincidentally, this post was almost exactly a year ago...
  1.  Confidence can get you so far. Be proud of who you are and what you do with your life.
  2. Don't ever regret anything. Even if you think you made a bad decision. It was obviously exactly what you wanted at that time in your life and it can't be changed.
  3. Selfishness might very well be the worst trait possible.
  4. Music cures all. A good song can be perfect for any moment.
  5. The past is the past. Everything about it got you to where you are today. Just don't let those things (or people) make it to your future.
  6. Family will always be there. Don't ever let them down and support them in all that they do.
  7. Life doesn't go the way you want it to, no matter how much you think you have it planned out. Things happen and lots of things change. So learn to be okay with what happens.
  8. Stereotypes suck, and judging people isn't cool.
  9. One person can completely change your life forever. And it might be someone you least expected.
  10. Mom is always right. No matter what.
  11. No matter how hard you try, you can't please everyone. So trying isn't worth your time.
  12. People are going to let you down. Even the ones you never thought would disappoint you. Figure out a way to handle it and how you deserve to be treated. Don't dwell.
  13. A sunny day can change your mood in an instant.
  14. Everyone deserves at least a second chance.
  15. Being kind to someone doesn't take any effort at all and can make someones whole day. Nice strangers are the best.
  16. Trusting someone is hard. But once you feel like you can open up to someone and trust them with all you have, everything feels right.
  17. Don't ever give up. Accomplishing something is an awesome feeling.
  18. Have dreams and goals. Do anything you can to reach them. And don't let anyone talk you out of what you want.
  19. Forgiveness is a tough thing to do. But don't hold grudges. Deal with what it is, get over it, and go on with your life. And always leave loved one with good words. Anything could happen to them.
  20. Everything will work out eventually. Even if you have to go through rough patches, you'll get to where you need to be with the people that are meant to be in your life.

    Birthday Dinner

I'm a little behind...but my birthday was a few weeks ago. I celebrated on Friday night with some friends and family and we went to Blazin' Pianos at Brewsky's in the Haymarket. If you've never been there, you definitely have to check it out. It was such a fun time and you get to hear some really great music! Here's some fun pictures of the night!

Doing the "Tristan" pose, as my mom calls it!

They made me sit on the piano while they sang to me!
Hahah! They played our class song from high school! Apparently we were singing loud!

I'll definitely be going back there sometime soon! It was a great birthday celebration!

    Exploring

While spending some much needed family time after my uncle passed away, we went exploring in their tiny little Western Nebraska town. Despite it being freezing cold, we decided to venture into a rundown house (among my top five favorite thing to take pictures of) and I attempted to take some, even though my finger was pretty much frozen to my shutter!

Despite rundown houses already being creepy and seeing things people leave behind, we came across this little doll...made it a little bit scarier!

    Thursday(ING)

Oh hey, Thursday you snuck up on me again!

    • Feeling like this semester is flying by. Even though the days are long, the weeks are going fast. It's already the middle of February! I don't know when that happened.
    • Spending lots of time daydreaming about a new place. I don't even know where I'm living for sure yet, but I'm ready to get out of here and start over.
    • Searching for brown boots. I've been on the hunt for months and cannot find anything. I've searched every website and every store. These are basically what I want, but I obviously can't afford them. So blog friends, help me out! I'm convinced they are sold out in my size all over the world.
    • Finishing another week and celebrating with the girls from student teaching. Tomorrow it's basically just because we survived this crazy week (20+ kids on a Valentine's Day sugar high included). So I'm looking forward to spending some time with those great ladies!
    • Being sick. Again. I swear I've been sick for 3 months straight. I've tried everything and I think I've given up. The fact that it seems like I spend every waking hour with tons of kids doesn't help and I just think we're all passing it on to each other and I'll never get over it! It's really exhausting me though! Much needed sleep will be coming this weekend.
    • Missing my family. I'm not sure what it is, but I just seem to get these big overwhelming feelings of homesick-ness every once in a while (okay, all the time) and I feel the need to drive home and cuddle my nieces and nephews and hang out with my parents. Call me crazy, it's okay.
Hope you all have a fun weekend!
